Could be going into Gorlston? or whatever it's called (fink I spelt it wrong) there used to be some docking places there. It's just next door to Yarmouth, but I haven't been there for donkeys.

#120.. know in my days there always took a pilot going in , due mainly to the tides in the river as you could get two reciprocal flows of water at the same time , used to berth head up river , so coming out however had to back down the river to get where it was wide enough to swing the ship head out ,funnily enough never used to bother with a pilot, maybe had had too much Dutch courage whist berthed in Yarmouth ? That river however could be tricky with its tidal flow. JS

    Chair for the captain!!!!

You should see the set up on cruise ships now.
Had the privilege of being offered a tour of the bridge a couple of years ago.

The helmsman now has a most comfortable chair, two other each side of him.
All he has to do is look at a screen, press a couple of buttons, move a small lever and that is it.

Complete luxury compared to some we have seen on some cargo ships
    Happy daze John in Oz.
