Modern Mid sized Bulkers
German shipping company Oldendorff
I remember being offered a job with them many years ago. I had been an onboard contractor doing generator rebuilds between ports. I declined as the salary they were offering was a joke, also the food. Okay if you liked sauerkraut and bratwurst sausages.
I never realised the number of ships they had then but must be one of the biggest operators of mid sized bulk carriers in the world.
The German company operates a fleet of 688 bulk carriers and is currently running a newbuilding program for 12 Kamsarmaxes, as detailed on its website.
I assume the figure of 688 bulk carriers they are many vessels under charter.
There owned fleet is 180 ships, a large fleet by any standards.
