Bridge destroyed by a containership
Just saw on the news a containership has hit a bridge near Baltimore and destroyed it.

Re: Bridge destroyed by a containership
I went under that bridge many times on containerships in the 70s and 80s I would think it was an engine failure

judging by the big cloud of black smoke in early pics, I suspect you may be right;

Re: Bridge destroyed by a containership
Latest reports say there were a number of construction workers working on the bridge as well as a number of vehicles crossing at the time and also a video showing that the vessel suffered a blackout just before the collision. The vessel was Singapore registered Dhalia? Assigned to maersk on its U.S to Asia route.

Re: Bridge destroyed by a containership
This is timeline and track of the vessel from berth to collision site. No mention of any tug attention for unberthing.

Re: Bridge destroyed by a containership
Looking at the BBC news, as the Ship approaches the bridge all the ships lights go out, one minute later power restored, followed by massive plume of black smoke from the funnel.
