SS Westburn - 1950 - not the one sunk during the war
Hello All
I'm looking for any information relating to the ship SS Westburn that was in service after the war. There was a former vessel of that name sunk during hostilities, but this one was at sea in 1950. Possibly owned by Ropners, but doesn't appear in their list that I found on-line. Ships number 160315. The entry in Dad's discharge book is, unusually, handwritten and has no other info.
Any pointers as to where to look gratefully received.
L

Re: SS Westburn - 1950 - not the one sunk during the war
#1 if his Dis. A. Is handwritten maybe the name just might be wrong . Have found a Westbank 5957 gross. 1948 - 1964 built by William Doxford but not a steam ship. In 1965 under the Greek flag . Heavily damaged by E.R. Fire in 26.9.67 whilst lying in Schiedam. Managed by Ocean Maritime Pireaus . 1969 renamed Santa Helena. Was in collission with Olympic Hill going into BA 9.7.69. Then Panama Flag, followed by German , then Spanish breakers in 74.
May or may not be ship, if is someone has put down the original name wrong. still looking for its official number the only way to really identify. Cheers hope you have better luck next time. JS..
if has Bank in name more likely to have been Bank Line or proper owners Andrew Weirs , JS.

Thanks for all responses... the link on Doc's post is where I ended up. And I learned something I should have known from the outset - namely search by number as well as name. Doh! Really appreciate your time, everyone.
