How many of you got the channels?
Always the best feeling all trip, getting home to family, worse feeling was when you packed again to head back. Can honestly say the week before setting of many a time my wife and I got in to being a bit snappy with each other. A good woman fussing about making sure you had packed everything you needed , but it did get annoying at times.
Stranest thing I found in my suitcase, just before I got in the taxi, we had a wee cat and she had been missing for nearly 2 days, unlike her to go AWOL. As I brought the suitcase down stairs I could hear her , opened the case and there she was lol. she was nearly on her way to Tokoyo
She must have thought this looks comfy and snuggled down for a kip. The wife used to put a bar of dark chocolate in my case as a surprise for when I opened it. She must have closed the lid after she did it and never noticed Rosie snuggled down.

James, my mother was the same.
Bar of Life Bouy soap, tube of toothpaste and for some unknown reason, well maybe not to her, a packet of band aids!!!

Maybe she thought I might get a bad cut as some time!!!

Worst was when you had 5 or 6 months in and there you were outbound down the channel to god knows where.

The Channels, a feeling of anticipation, freedom for a while, see the family have some fun.
Then look at you pay off figure and see the whole world change in a second.
Is that all i have until the next voyage.

Thankfully a cheap one way ticket back to London, but on the platform a bar, bad news.

"what do you mean you missed the train', says mum, 'you stink of booze, don't try to fool me you were in the bar when the train went'

Never mind I will be going back in ten days, you will miss me then.................maybe!!!!!
