Des if the uk had stayed in the EU that is just what the UK was lined up for. Would be a good answer to a question asked what does Fc stand for. Could have been London. JS.

Re: Shipping forecast
So then we had the weather forecast for Oz this summer.
El Nino is coming, hot dry weather be ready for the bush fires.
Then yesterday the CSIRO made their statement.
No El Nino , La Nina is still having an effect.
An effect, that is the understatement of the year so far.
Rain non stop for over 48 hours now, floods all over the place.
But fine weather later in the week, but how much later they did not say.

Happy daze John in Oz.

#5 For the double Plymouth take one away and think the area between plymouth and portsmouth was designated with the title Royal Sovereign this list was to my knowledge correct in 1990. I left uk waters in 1991 so maybe different today. Took some figuring out so hope the 31 is now correct. JS

#13. Ref. El Niņo and La Niņa John, maybe they should get in touch with our El Fouro who could put them in the picture of the weather woes in Scotland and maybe come to some agreement about sharing the weather problems. Like give us La Niņa/El Nino and we”ll give you 80 mm of rain and we”ll give you 70% of Cumulus Nimbus cloud coverage to go with it. JS.

Re: Shipping forecast
This has been the most peculiar Summer I have experienced in Aus, I am still having to wear a jumper, at least one shower of rain every day sometimes for three days of heavy rain, no bronze weather, at least down here , in Sydney they have the usual skin cancer patients on the beach. And the light has been very poor, have to put on the lights during the day to read, I thought it was old age but everyone I speak to about it says the same young or old.
Mind you if we get total darkness it would make war very difficult for politicians they are in the dark now.

Re: Shipping forecast
Des, most of them are always in the dark, no idea at all of what goes on.
But as it is now summer the rain is warmer so the shower every other day could save you some water, just remember the soap.

Re: Shipping forecast
2023 has just been declared the warmest year since records began.
I think today is the first day it has not rained in my area for nearly 2 months. The ground is absolutely water logged.

Re: Shipping forecast
You must understand how they come to this number.
Said to be from the 1800's.
Fine but in those times there was no way to measure heat in the upper atmosphere as there is now.
Two different scientists today here in Oz gave different views on it.
One said it is the effects of El Nino, while a member of the CSIRO said no, El Nino has not the normal strength this year and is just about done.
So who t believe, depends on which 'church' you belong to. 'Those of the Al Gore' chapel say they have the only true figures.
More intelligent 'priests' say no we are correct.
