    Gulliver,
Just please say where your infomation comes from, as I am sure its not your own words.
Also if you think that anyone who supports the relief of gaza ( of which I am one) is a terrorist, you must be surrounded by them in your local firkin pub.

Two more Australian soldiers killed today in Afghanistan. Will we ever defeat the terrorists, somehow I have my doubts.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

We cant beat the Taliban unless we wipe out the entire Islamic religion.
We are fighting in an Islamic country, Kick one Islamic and you kick them all.
Volunteers are flying out daily from the UK to join the fight. Two were caught yesterday in New York boarding planes to join the Taliban.
The Afghan people do not like `foreigners ` in their country, they would preferr the Taliban to non Islamic countries coming in to `help` them.
The British had three Afghan wars in 1839 to 1842 and in 1878 to 1881 and again in 1919. Each time we lost thousands of men.
The Russians tried and lost 15,000 men. Nato has lost a couple of thousand men in this episode.
An American writer said the only way to beat the Taliban is to let them take over the entire country then Nuke them.
If the Afghans want to live in the 7th century why not let them.?
I can never find out what the Taliban death total is, it is never published. Why?
Politicians do not read the lessons of History.
Politicians do not even read Kipling
I have a book called The Malakand Massacre, by Winston Churchill about the Afghan Wars, I read the stories in there and it is as if I am reading todays newspaper, the ambushes, and attacks are exactly the same. Will they ever learn???
    As Kipling said,,
"When you lie wounded on Afghans cold plains
and the women are coming to cut off what remains
then lie on your rifle and blow out your brains
and go to your death like a Soldier.".

Unfortunetly the Christian world upset the islamists on the second Crusade , and they have a long memory . I think they have an odd view of the world , they regard the rest of the world as a Threat . Bibles are banned in Saudia Arabia , It is only a book , why does it scare them ? , could that be because it is more truthful than theirs ?. Countries like the Maldives , the Gulf States , parts of Africa , Turkey , want our money but not our faith . I am a firm believer in " Voting with my feet " and I don't stay in Islamic countries , where my freedom to have faith in Christ is not respected . Never mind shooting at them , stop giving them aid ! stop going there as a Tourist , we supply the funds that buys the bullets that shoots down our soldiers .

    Just a personal thought .

    Default Sealink

Rob notice you served with sealink also that you reside in Portsmouth; this interest me as when I left deep sea in 1946 I joined the old southern railway and served on the Ryde service - cross channel service- then in 1953 moved to the Humber area for the railways.Would like to speak further on this. Sad thing about the Afghans is thta without them much of Australia would not have been opened up for years. It was them with their camels that ventured into the unknown desert and opened it up for the white settlers. They even have a railway named in their honor. Maybe that is why Oz gives them so much assistance, but the camels they left behind have gone feral and there are now so mnay they pose a problem.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Rob thanks for the reply; spent sometime on the Southampton to Channels Isles/St.Malo run, remember going round the Casquets on the night of the gales and floods in 1953 bound for Guernsey; remember the Weymouth boats.Am a Portsmouth born lad and went to sea in 1941 at 15 years of age.Arthur
