Can you help decipher these words and places please?
Hi
Thanks to the fabulous help and advice on this forum I have managed to get copies of some of my grandfather's voyages. I'd appreciate some help with reading some of the names on the documents.
1. Despite the best efforts of the team at the canadian Maritime Archives and my own attempts, we are unable to decipher the name of the previous ship on the first voyage document I have. If I can work it out they will be able to search, and hopefully let me have, copies of that voyage too.
I'm hoping somone may recognise it, I have attached an image here (Ship Name help) and would be grateful for any suggestions.
2. Also - On the last voyage that I have a record for, he and two other assistant stewards left the ship before it docked back in London. It left london, for Australasia via Canada. Left London 10 March 1932 and arrived back 15 June 1932. He was discharged 19 April 1932. We can't read the place they left or the reason for discharge. I've attached that image too (Discharge place and reason help) on the offchance that someone here can decipher it. Discharge place and reason help.jpg
3. Finally can you help decipher the port of commencement for the Chessington Court on 02.03.1931, he joined the ship in Shanghai - image attached (Port of commencement help) it was heading to Cape Town. Port of commencement help.jpg
I hope this is ok to ask, I'd be very grateful for any suggestions. We are trying to establish how long my grandfather was in the Merchant Navy and where he travelled.
Karen

We think the Ship name is 'Litiopa'
Also the place of discharge could be a short form for Wellington New Zealand

If what You are looking for is D/T could be any number of things to me would be in a sounding book meaning Deep Tank. However could mean Diesel Tanker , Diesel Turbine, just let your imagination go and go through the alphabet .
JS
The Litiopa is not listed in British Tramp Ships. JS

Litiopa is a name used by Shell, first one was bought in 1920 and sold in 1927. There may have been others but I am only currently aware of the 315,000 tonne L class Litiopa built in mid 70's

The port of commencement looks to me like 'The Tyne'.

The D/S prefix for Norwegian ships means Dampskip which translates to steamship in English. I would also suggest that the prefix D/T probably means Damptanker = steam tanker.

Most Probably the Northumberland Docks. Port of Tyne
