It's obvious to a blind man that the world is heating up, but down here in Cooma with the shortest day gone and heading back slowly to winter, we still have a dooner on the bed, average temp daytime 11 deg, nighttime around 6, rain galore, so much so that I have the bloke who cuts my lawn on fast dial LoL. But If this is World warming I'm pleased.

It was our longest day Des, you still living in Wales ? Know what you mean though. June 21/22 will be our shortest day.Thats the time to put your solar socks on. Cheers JS
I make the same mistakes and had to sit and remember the dates of the winter and Summer solstices and the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, memory gets worse every day.
Am catching up with the wife who can’t remember what we had for dinner.Life as get older just exists mainly of doctors appointments at their request not mine. Cheers JS.

John, if your memory is getting worse every day, then you should start drinking "Bells Afore Ye Go Whisky" asp.
Have a happy Hogmanay today and a Happy New Year when it comes.

    Fouro.

Same to you Fouro , it’s 1840 hours here at the moment and just opened the first beer of the month let alone the day, I don’t feel any better for the deprivation either. However have the excuse is the last day of the year , who knows it maybe the last year also. You take care yourself all things being equal will both be saying the same in 2030 . Cheers JS

PS. Des should just about now be struggling to get his snow shoes on to enable him to get to the RSL he feels the cold something terrible , whilst John in Oz will be striving to get into his “ who wears short shorts “ to get to the local boozer with his hat with corks on to keep the flies at bay. This climate change has a lot to answer the way it affects people. Myself if I had anywhere to go could I suppose put snow chains on the gopher and venture out into the raging storm, never mind they all say tomorrow never comes how stupid can people get ? Its been coming for the nigh on 87 years. Cheers once again someone might turn up later with a bottle of 7 Bells only half an hour to go then to the end of the watch.
    Cheers JS

    Hi John.
Best of luck for the New Year to you and Gwen, and to everyone on site. aA long as one can lift the arm and pay for a drink , well; sometimes, as most times the RSL gives my wife $25 a month as she is a Diamond card holder, don't know why they don't give me one, she also gets a discount on meals . it's mostly the women who get them, they know who holds the purse strings LoL.

Same to you Des , reciprocations. The only thing I have that I have she doesn’t as is classed as physically fit, is my taxi vouchers paying 50% of the fare and which has my photo on, so means I have to accompany her if she wants to go anywhere, this does not include the hairdressers however. Cheers JS.

Don't go swimming for exercise John, the sharks have set up restaurants all around the Aussie coast at the present time, Humans are Plat-de Jere at the moment. You may know that there is a beach up near Newcastle called Nobby's beach, lovely cuisine on the menu.

Des, it would appear the Sharks have taken a liking to cannibal meats.

As to cyclones, many years back, about 1976 we had one hit the town of Strood in Kent, frightened the life out of many.
AS to out glorious king Charles, read an article where he spends most of the night, up to about 0400 hours writing letters, obviously a slow writer.

As to weather, not climate change cult stuff, we were told an El Nino would effect our weather here in Oz this year.
But today the weather men, who know so little about weather it appears now say the El Nino did not come in as expected and is now waning.

Been up the river for New Year, talking with a local farmer and he told me about the 'Exactor'.
A local guy who predicts the weather a bout six weeks ahead, all the farmers listen to him.
He is now in his 70's and has been doing this for over 50 years.
Predictions are based on the way animals react, spiders, lizards, plants, prevailing winds and a load of other bits.
According to this farmer he has about a 97% correct ratio.
He also said back in October the El Nino effect would not happen.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Best weather predictor is a piece of sea weed hanging out the front door.

Getting sick and tired of the weather now, day after day it has done nothing but rain. Fields are flooded beyond saturation point.
Farmers who sow Spring Barley must be praying it stops raining soon and a good period of dry weather kicks in.
