William Rivers mariner born circa 1802 Cowes UK
Hi all,
I've searched the BT 113, 112, 120
In BT112/120 I found William Rivers born 1802 Cowes Isle of Wight. It looks as if his last ship was the Jannett around 1838. (Mate) there is a number 2768. He may have died abroad by 1843. (Abra Philippines/ or China?)I don't seem to find any further record of him?
William John Rivers born 1829 Limehouse is more easily found in the mariner records, he is my great grandfather, and I think the above William is his father. William John has a ticket number, 392,357.
The daughters of William born 1802 list their father as mariner, Master Mariner and Captain Merchant service on various marriage certificates. It's hard to say if his wife was a "widow" in 1843 or he has scarpered.
Can anyone suggest any further research that might be available to locate William Rivers, born 1802 in Cowes? Can anyone spot him in the records after 1838?
Many thanks
