Re: P&O
Sounds like a thrilling experience, apart from being on a ship, there seems no point, and from results on the food that friends have told me, thats gone downhill as well. Just imagine that cruise with an inside cabin, no view !!! kt

Re: P&O
Dont think i would be into that at all, its like the Qantas Flights that have had here recently, just get on Board Fly around Australia, and then Land think its about 6 or 8 Hour Trip ??
What a waste, but saying that i guess many people after being locked up for so long were eager to get out a bit, as the Flights so fat (Two as i know of) have both been fully Booked!
I still have that dream to go away on a nice Tramper somewhere, with no actual destination, just go where it takes me, think that would be great!
Pipe Dream though!! Oh Dear!!

Re: P&O
Would be there with you on that one Doc, nearest you can get to that i would have thought was a box boat. Some years ago the Fyffes banana boats took i think it was 12 passengers, they could not give you a definite length of cruise , but that would be good, visiting various non tourist type loading ports, alas all gone, kt

Re: P&O
looking at the Polish company there Lewis, only a few passengers, and the fares look reasonable as well, and not a fair ground ride in sight. I am not into this cruise lark, but that appeals me more than the big boys, kt

Re: P&O
I believe Bank Line when they were still going used to have some 12 passenger ships as did Geest Line & Elders&Fyffes. There used to be up to 2 years waiting list to get on. I think the added beauty was that you could port hop. Stop over at a Port hang back a few days and then fly up and re join or you could wait and pick up another one on the way through. Now that would have to be thee ultimate trip for ex seafarers. You would have to pay me to go on some of these floating apartment blocks they are calling cruise ships these days. A disaster waiting to happen.
I know a lot of cargo liners had accommodation for 12 passenger, but had mostly stopped carrying passengers by the mid to late 60's. The only one I sailed on in 1970/1 that was still carrying passengers was Elder Dempster m.v Ebani.
