hi mike hewit
in many respects your correct, And whilst the immigrants prosper and multiply it is then evident by their faces in our local goverments and in our parliament that they are changing the face of this country, even though they only make up thirteen percent of the total population.
For us to question this fact, we are seen as racist right wing nazis, which is a shame really, because a majority of the people in this country have voted in a referendum for us to leave the EU and one of the over-riding reasons for most people is the immigration and the change forced on us by the politicians from all parties to accept this as normal.
just this week this goverment trying to deport foreign criminals have once again been thwarted by the left wing liberal elite whom have stopped more being sent back, whilst one criminal from a failed deportation flight earlier this year has gone on to kill,
i dont know the answer but i remember when fiji voted in the labour party in 1991 there was riots as he was not a indigenous fiji, and he never stayed in office for long.
i hope that is not the outcome, for the liberal left experiment with the multiculture they so espouse.
but then again as i keep saying george orwell wrote it all down in 1949 in his book 1984, and big brother is in charge.
but just like you my wife often says she is happy that she is leaving this world than being born into it.

Re: Disaster waiting to happen.
Agree with what's been said. I remember years ago, mid 70's, when we flew out to join a ship, we would take a copy of every newspaper off the shelves to take to the ship. In the tabloids, there were reports of a demonstration in, I think, Birmingham. The photo's showed placard carrying ******s. They were protesting the fact that they wanted their own banks and currency whilst still living in UK and taking all the benefits. At the same time an article in the Gulf Times said that King Khalid had DECREED that every foreign woman had to wear long skirts and long sleeved upper garments. No discussion and no appeal if you were caught and put in prison.
A lot of us who went to sea called in at ports in Pakistan and the gulf and know of the corruption and the antagonism that foreigners in those countries are subject to. The majority of UK citizens have no idea what goes on.
The Saudi's are so religious, yet they hop in to their yachts and head off up to Bahrain and have orgies in western style hotels. I was flying to join a ship in the gulf, from Malaya and got talking to one of the stewardesses. As soon as we took off from I think Dubai, all the request lights went on. She said, "Now they're up in the air, they all want their whisky."
There was also a case back in the 60's or 70's I think, where some Arab prince had taken a floor in one of the big London hotels for parties involving drugs, liquor and "good time" girls which was front page news.
Have times changed?
Regards,
Geoff.

Re: Disaster waiting to happen.
# 13 Having lived in Pakistan and the Middle East for 8 years (70's), hypocrisy and corruption was rife, corruption in Pakistan was a way of life, no business except the water supply company would accept a cheque, I had company invoices paid (usually a year or more late) by suitcases full of money, you never counted it, as 'they' would have been offended and for insulting their honour and walked out with it ., needless to say when you did get round to counting it it was normally 10 - 15% short which was their fee for delivering money they owed you and saw nothing wrong in that. In The UAE, you could do business on a handshake and the back of a cigarette packet with a UAE Arab and a contract and payment would be honoured, that all changed around '76 when they started employing Lebanese and Palestinian managers, handshakes went out the window and you had to count your fingers when they released your hand, and you then only did business with contracts ensuring that every 'i' was dotted and every 't' crossed and payment by Letter of Credit drawn on a London Bank. When the Saudi - Bahrain causeway was built it was one way traffic to Bahrain on a Thursday night and one way traffic to Saudi on a Saturday morning

I know you wont live that long, but remember the Ms ruled Greece and Spain for around four hundred years, they don't now. And I think that going by Biden's comments Saudi Arabia will be on the outer with his regime, so there's hope yet. And I don't think that Trump can pardon the sheik.

Re: Disaster waiting to happen.
Not just in UK, here in Oz we are getting more of them.
So far we have peoples from about 195 out of about 200 countries on this planet.
Many have added to the culture and life style of the nation, but as is always the case there are those who only wish to cause problems.
Many of the refugees from the Vietnam War have settled in very well, and the Chinese have been her since the early days of the gold rush in the 1880's
Without them no Chines restaurants.
Most of the migrants work had to establish them selves, they belief they must prove themselves.
We have no problem with any one coming here, after all my brother came, all we ask is that they accept the law of the land and behave well.
No worries if they bring their religion as well, but keep it to yourselves is all we ask.
After all the nation is one built on crims, drunks, murders, and all manner of other crimes.
But the original settlers were hand picked by the highest in the land, some good judges in them times so we are told.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Disaster waiting to happen.
Thomas ref 12, we are far to soft in this country, we made the mistake of trying to please people from other countries, and allowed our country to change. I am not a racist, i have worked with all nationalities and religions at sea. We made a fatal mistake in allowing people with turbans to get a motor bike licence, and others to have a helmet, that was the start, if you cannot wear a helmet no motor cycle .simple, but the gate was open, and the changes started, and we allowed religion to thrive from all over. Its too late now, it is the norm. just my opinion, kt

A disaster waiting to happen is when the mother in law arrives without notice.

Re: Disaster waiting to happen.
if people are willing to abide by our laws speak English and stay out of trouble why not have a multi cultural society any day in the city center of liverpool people from all over the world are here{well not so much now due to covid} we seem to forget lots of people from other lands fought by british troops in wars for the empire in those days but today you only need a couple of bad ones to turn the tide on the rest.. jp
