#8 I think for the present Brian we can discount the A in ABC warfare. This was taught in 1962 not by the author of War of the Worlds but our own Ministry of Defence. The last ones to hear about it will be the general public. JS

John we were doing the ABC training in the early 1950's, regretfully we only had two spray nozzles for the whole ship, and one of those we got from the engineroom, luckily we never used them in a real situation, but it did bring home to you that just because WWII was finished we weren't out of danger. But as soon as we got down the WCSA we stopped worrying about ABC and thought about VD, just as well we knew the alphabet!

Thanks for your response Andrew. I must admit after 16 years as a pilot it was a strange experience to go through for last 6 months. I was going to go in April but delayed it a few months (with as you say not able to do anything in lockdown) but with the winter coming and long climbs up ladders on a dark stormy winter nights to look forward to, I finally pulled the plug. I was lucky that I wasnt personally in contact or aware of any cases (as far as I know!).
