Re: Unknown My Great great Grandfather was MN or RN
Hi Nick,
1 If his father (or mother, or guardian) signed him up as an apprentice on indentures he would have been MN. I am not aware anyone was, or could be, apprenticed to the RN? It is difficult to see his name on the indentures list, so this may be a red-herring. The dates look right as he would have been 16 at the time.
1 He was 33 in the year of the census, not that that adds much.
3. Can you identify his medals. These would tell you which campaigns he was in, which would tell you which service.
Good luck in your research,
M Jobson
