Depended upon the era he sailed on Everards ships, as they were mostly UK coastal trade in 50's and 60's, 70's branched out as far as Mediterranean and as far as the Falklands in the 80's.
The photo could be anywhere, at first glance thought it was Ponta Delgado in the Azores, but then saw the viaduct roadways, which look like Madeira or somewhere in Italy

Re: Everard ships from Liverpool
Hi Robert,
My recolection of Everards is they were a Coastal fleet, which means obviously around our coastal ports but also ,like GSNC, the near continent as well, Holland, France,Belgium. So your photo could be there or possibly a Welsh port with a castle in the background?

In the Miner's strike at least one of "Freds" loaded coal at a US East Coast port, possibly Norfolk VA.

F.T.Everard and Sons of Greenhythe.
They have a very good Facebook account with lots of photos of their ships and crew. I had a brief look but could see nothing to identify the photo above. Interesting and well worth a look though.

Re: Everard ships from Liverpool
I was on the Frederick T Everard from Risor, Norway to the UK with a cargo of wood pulp, including a dodgy absorbent deck cargo, in very poor North sea weather - could be on that run?
