Reading. The first few words Fouro, brought straight away the memory of a cook in Seaforth Eddie SANGSTER. Anyone know him or even sailed with him deep sea. Always nice to know what happened to people in later life. The brief reference to the Hesperus in the article, I wonder if this was the same vessel in the saga and epic story of the wreck of the Hesperus I haven’t really read in depth yet so may find further info. On same. My mother always used to recite a poem with her own words put into the verses can’t remember it all but started “ The boy stood on the burning deck, a jelly piece in his hand, he was his fathers pride and joy and was his mothers..... ? “ and there my memory gives out. Interesting as my family are all from that area and Sunderland, all in the ship building industry in the 1870's to start of WW2.
