Yes there was nothing modern about her , no luxuries. We lived aft on the poop and the galley was midships , the peggy had to carry the meals in kits. luckily most of the trip was in good weather except for Japan where it was winter with deep snow.

All is now clear thanks , must have got lost among all that Brooke’s bond dividend tea I usd to lace the whiskey with. Some hopes. Today wouldn’t mind betting on a 5 Masted or 6 masted power driven vessel would be 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 masts. What would you want with 5 or 6 masts for in any case apart from hanging the washing line. With names such as shover, pusher and spanker it could be imagined such names would have come from a UCL liner first class saloon.

Chapmans who started a new build program at Shorts Sunderland in 1955 the first two delivered was the Lynton & Scorton, 1957 followed by the Grainton in 1958. then came the Amberton & Norton in 1959, and the last two was the Clearton & Brighton in 1960 the ships known as the seven sisters,
