Interesting history
The Merchant Navy Association is no longer able to offer a family history advice service.
What records do exist, are housed at the National Archives, Kew, London.
The National Archives
Please be aware that they are not comprehensive. In some cases only 50% of the records have survived.
Seaman 1918 - 1941
Documents exist at the National Archives Kew, London in file references BT348, BT350 and BT364.
These can also be accessed at Trace your Family Tree Online | Genealogy & Ancestry from Findmypast | findmypast.co.uk
Seaman 1942 - 1972
These are found in documents at National Archives Kew, London in file references BT382, BT390, BT391 and BT364
