robert it depends on who the owners are to id the specific ship there is a sailing vessel with that name, not to mention canadian steamer and everards. Regards.

I was on the 'Speciality', yellow peril, quite a few months on her, learned a lot, bluddy hard work, but she was fully employed, didn't spend too much time in port and very few ballast voyages, certainly earned her owners a bob or two. Accommodation was quite good and we were lucky with our cook/stewards spent most of our money on food and could cook it as well, mind you we worked long hours and so hard you'd have eaten anything. 4 on/4 off......5on/5 off.....6on/6 off depending on the run (5/5 was my preferred). Domino hatchboards were on and off like a brides underwear, such a lot of them on three large hatches, you never needed time off to go to the gym, we were all as fit and strong as a butchers dog, should have been in a circus with our ability to straddle and walk king beams on a rolling ship and turn over dominoes at the same time

'Authority' too small to be a yellow peril and the perils weren't introduced until the 1950's, the early ones were all around 1590grt, saved carrying an R/O if under 1600grt

I did Six months on the AMITY in 1952/3
She was a small tanker , part of the fleet from Singapore, in 1945, named EMPIRE `TABNAB` and so on. we went everywhere on her, all over Ireland, and from the Shetlands both sides down to the Channel Islands and Rotterdam.
I enjoyed every minute and had a lot of adventures.

was in the allurity late 50s .....ex empire dombie....steel bulkheads always damp ...but just running mainly middlesboro bunkernig foriegn goers........back in shields every night ...come oct she was like a sub ...cleared off deep sea cappy

Ivan when were you aboard Speciality. my dates on-board were first quarter 1960 last quarter 1961. CB. DB. SOS.

Second half of 1958, would have stayed but left her on 25/12 to be home on 26/12 for my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary, also my father home from sea, my sister home from RAF in Malta, first time we had all been home together for years, so couldn't really miss it.

She was my first rock dodger, seriously underpowered for the close to coast navigation we had to undertake at times, but boy did you learn about tides and currents real quick and not forgetting the counter currents around the UK coast and sailing with less than a foot under your keel, didn't have to worry about squat too much, she wasn't fast enough!!

##the old man on the allurity was named brow ..a southerner ...a good stick ....hwe wanted his dinner 20 mins before we got in the tyne ...i gave him a big fried cod with boilies and peas ..as i walked past i saw him slumped in the chair blue in the face ..i thought he had choked on the fish and proceeded to pull the fish out of his mouth ,,,.e was dead i thought any way i hollered for help and the mate came in ...we patted his back hard andhe opened his eyes ..an ambulance came to the quay and took him off ..we thought that is the end of him ....lo and behold the next morning at our usual sailing time down to middlesboro ...down the jetty he comes shouts let go and came aboard as if nothing happened .......perhaps they were a different breed then ....it was said he had a slight stroke ....but we knew it was the codfish from the otherside of the river were JS lives they eat old fish regular over there......cappy
