My wife just came out with a golden oldie.I was bending over in the back garden taking an old garden table apart when she came up behind me and said "stay like that and I'l buy you a new hat" a long time since I heard that one(or used it on my wife).

first time i heard that jim was on a british tanker up the gulf in july ....no air con ......truly couldnt stand on the deck flip flops started to melt ......slept round the r send at night......taking the bridge box up to the bridge ...the oldmans wife was leaning out the wheelhouse window ......the old man said to her stay like that and i will give you a new hat .......then turned to me me and said what you laughing at ......he was the best old man i ever new he had been a prisoner on the altmark........and rescued in a norske fiord.........after 11 or 12 months as i left the ship in falmouth he was on the wing of the bridge he was quite elderly then....and he shouted bye cappy ......i was made up cos i didnt even think he new my name.......a proper old man regards cappy
