First trip Deckboy on the Orcades, just left Piraeus next stop Port Said and looking forward to the Suez. Not sure how widespread it was within P&O or whether it was just the custom on the Orcades, but one first tripper from each department, Deck, Catering and Engine room were eligible to join the passengers and visit the Pyramids etc. The night before we arrived at Port Said a quiz was held to see who would be the lucky recipient - yeah, it was me.

    Hi Don,
Did my first trip through the Suez on the P&O Iberia.
    Didn't have that on her.
Sounds like a nice idea though.

Did my first on the NZSC Paparoa with the cook hiding in the chain locker. Ham and arabs do not mix!
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Hi Richard
The 1st pic was the new Bridge built by Japan, the second a view from the Bridge of the ESSO DALRIADA, third pic was a suction barge dredging and pumping sand away. 4th Bridge was the old El Firdan Bridge, and the last was a vessel following us north bound.
This was in May 2005, I was on the Funchal a Portugese ship from Fremantle to Liverpool
    Cheers
    Brian
