Re: Horatio
The canteen manageress at the Dairy was an unpopular grumpy woman , who used to deep fry the bacon , the fried bread and fish as well as sausage all at the sme time in the fryer , I did well and took sandwiches in from home , but take the bacon biutties off the drivers or make them so badly that they complained was dangerous . The drivers sat in the canteen and waited for the trailers to be loaded , when loaded Despatch rang the canteen , the grumpy old woman shouted out for the driver , Jim Smith , anyone seen Jim Smith !, she upset them badly and was forever shouting Mike Hunt , anyone seen Mike Hunt . Nobody ever told her .

Re: Horatio
Very strange thing, the brain, all the memories you forget and the little ones that stay with you.
I once sailed with a young sparkie whose name was Julius Sigmund Simmons. His parents must have had great expectations for him.
Often wondered if a name maketh the man. You never see a Rupert, a Quentin or Marmaduke labouring away on a building site.
Wish my Dad had named me Cedric Lancelot, I may have been writing this sitting on the stern of my private yacht.

Probably because he's an agnostic Jim, so wouldn't have anything to do relating to a bible

Re: Horatio
True story,I had a customer called Fanny Airey obviously surname always came first in our books so it looked quite comical as Airey Fanny. There are many strange combinations of names I cant understand why the parents did'nt think about it when naming the baby.It did no harm to the boy named Sue,or did it.
Regards.
