Tennents Keg Beer.... If remember correctly used to get 40 pints out of a keg. 200 times 40 equals 8000 pints divided by 35 drinkers equals approx. 228 pints each. Longest trip was 6 weeks (42 days.. ore carrier) about 5 pints a day.. at 10 p a pint equals 50 p per day. Always topped up to about 200 kegs every time in UK. Was the most important job on the ship and was always on the quay waiting. Cheers John S

first ship I was on it was a shilling a pint , spirit were 6d a 1/4 gill , Whisky , rum & gin 7/- a bottle at 21 tots to the bottle the bar made a good profit beer was 10 gallon 40 pints ,but you lost a couple of pints in the line and spillage , I think ! ! it was sold at a break even price and the spirit and mixers covered the costs . It was done on a bar book , every drink tick the box for pint or tot , still even at those prices some could be "Forgetful "
