Rob, he may have been lied to but they paid him good money to keep the damn things.
Basically he was paid by me and you through the EU not to kill them.
Given the choice as a farmer would you get up early to plough the fields and tend the soil or sit on yir bum and get paid for letting wild birds live on your land?
    No choice is it?

Rob, thank you for your input on this thread,, I always know I can rely on you (even if I we don't agree). Your clarification regarding the difference between the Council of Europe and the European Union was much appreciated. I think you explained this to us once before, but suspect I did not pay sufficient attention at the time. Please accept my apologies. lol. ...........As an Englishman far removed from the effects of the EU, I, nevertheless, have a genuine concern for the welfare of my countrymen (believe it or not), but must tell you now that I've never been happy with the way Britain jumped into bed with Europe. Easy for me to say, I know, but for many years I have felt a sense of guilt when confronted by Aussie mates reflecting on the manner in which they were deserted (trade-wise) by the 'Mother Country'. I am aware that Britain was placed in an unenviable position and that breaking-bread with Europe appeared to be the only option open, if Britain were to prosper in the future. Unfortunately, as far as trade was concerned, many folk in Oz and N.Z. felt betrayed by Britain's decision at the time (and some still do). If one considers the extent of their unqualified support for Britain during the (two) most major conflicts the world has ever known, is it really hard to understand why they should feel that way? Yet, strangely, if Britannia were to get in the s--t again, the silly b--t--ds on the other side of the world would still be there to help us. No matter what, the Anzacs put great store by mateship

if I can explain the differences in terms that everyone will see , there are two bodies , one of thieving barstewards , one of barstewards that thieve , just two separate bunches of bar stewards .But we need to dislike them separably , otherwise our arguments will become confused

I agree with all you said Roger,
Britain`s entry into europe bancrupted New Zealand and near bancrupted Australia, they felt that the Poms had kicked them in the teeth and stabbed them in the back after all they had done to help Britain in two world wars and the majority of people from British Stock. We then cohorted with the traditional enemies like germany.
They had to find new markets for their Beef, Lamb and Fruit and Dairy products that we always bought from them, We as Seamen knew how much trade we did down there,
hundreds of ships loaded with British manufactured exports and returned with all the Beef, Lamb , Fruit, dairy products. millions of tons of two way traffic.
But we had to buy from froggy france and others within europe. and then the downfall of Britain began, Our industries closed, What could we manufacture that germany and france could not manufacture. Nothing. So we lost all our great fleets of meat boats . Port Line, Blue Star Line, Shaw Saville Line and many others,
Thousands of seafarers lost their jobs. Britain was in decline and has never come out of it.
We should get out of europe and start trading with the world again.
    Cheers
    Brian.

Default Lawson speaks out on Europe.

I remember reading a story written by a Scottish Laird. He stated that he was paid a huge amount of money to leave his land barren,in fact he was paid more for doing nothing rather than cultivate it.He was straight forward about it and didn't mind admitting that the system was absolutely ridiculous. His morning kicked off by driving down to the village picking up 4 news papers going home having his breakfast and sitting down to read the papers, that was his day in for which he was paid a lot of money.Remember the butter mountains, milk lakes and wine lakes, held back to keep the price up.Pensioners were invited to various pick up points to pick up a couple of pound of butter for free and the wine and the milk was poured down the drain.I remember seeing tons of tomatoes ,potato's and other vegetables being plowed back into the ground to keep the price high all so that the farmers could be paid a good subsidy.
    Regards.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Norman Lamont another ex Chancellor saying much the same as Nigal Lawson about Europe. Surely these guys have access to more information than Joe Public, Time to move on and open up trade with the world, once again. And should the Jap car makers move to Europe take there factories and make our own cars, using monies saved from our anual payments to the EU, help the workers set up there own companies they have the know how.

Not sure about democracy but hand outs are good. If you ask that nice Mr. **** I am sure he will tell you how you may avail yourself of them
