I think some of these old Ships could be used as retirement homes for elderly Seafarers.
Much better to be in familiar surroundings with similar retirees, instead of being sat in a square in a retirement home lounge nodding, amidst a smell of urine, and total strangers who know nothing of what you speak, and a TV set blasting away that no one watches but the staff.
Cant think of a better way to spend your final days.
They all have a Bar, galleys and hospitals on board with entertainment.
A few 21 year old blue eyed blonde Swedish Nurses on board to bring back the memories you would otherwise have forgotten.
Cheers
Brian.

I seem to vaguely recall a 21 yearold Blonde many many years ago in Rotterdam, she told me she was 21 I saw her standing in a window , I was quite inebriated trying to negotiate my way back to safety, so she might not have been of the same appearance in the morning
Yes a Ship for retired Mariners would be pretty good, the Blonde 21 year olds would have to get a Pass off the Chief mate to board the ship, many would come disguised as older persons in the hope of getting on board to the ships Bar.
Wheelchair friendly Gangways would be required, although many of the residents would prefer the magic coffee pot where the young lady emerges from the spout amoungst the steam. i would write to your local Member of Parliament about this wonderful idea. all the best Glenn

When on board her, the ship not the Swedish blonde, in Geelong a few years ago I was told the only reason she would no longer sail was beacuse they could not get insurance on her. She was then destined for Germany where she was to be laid up as a possible maratime museum. Obviously something changed, but for her age she looked in reasonable condition.
