Yes that was the date on the paper, I have just recieved it, just thought some one may have been interested who also did not see the Paper, I was away at the time on my way around the planet so never saw it.
Ah well maybe next time I will find an up to date news article. Dont worry about it.

I'm sure that's a regular run for that ship.

    Default Ship Collides with Bridge

Sorry Brian, didn't mean my post to look and sound so blunt. I was simply stating when it happened. My eldest son in the States drew my attention to the incident at the time and I followed it for a while. The ship was I believe designed for the trade. It is a heck of a trip for a vessel of that size right up through the heartland of central USA. Not much margin for error I should think. I guess some of our American members know more about it.

Brian that photo of the steel all over the fore deck, amazing. I am gob smacked that in the dark & rain drivers were able to stop before driving over the edge to their death. There have been as we know many of these but the photo that sticks in my mind is the one in Tasmania way back in I think 70's, same time as the hurricane that hit Darwin, with a car just hanging half on half off, happily the people got out. The captain of that ship got a serious DR, believe he was stripped of his ticket?
In your now relaxed travels on passenger ships you should try going up the Mississippi, there are a few vessels you can go on, sure less salubrious than the Queens et al but more interesting. We did it on a tug towing barges a few years ago, sure bit rough but what a trip & what seamanship skill those tug men have. That river is so amazingly beautiful & you felt akin Huck Finn, Tom Sawyer.
Our next one is the Amazon, we wish to visit the old Ford Rubber plantations on one of the tributaries it would make a wonderful documentary as it is a seriously interesting historic story of failure. It is on an old Russian ice breaker which in the off months of travel to the Arctic-Antarctic will do the Amazon if enough interest. Food apparently not too good meaning basic but plenty of booze. We will be kyaking during the day so the scenes will be amazing, duration is seventeen days. Richard

It was the Bridges fault Brian, did not obey the Rule of the Road. A good argument for the defendants solicitor. Cheers John Sabourn

    Brian.
Brian we got that in January and as I said at the time, the problem was they built the bridge too low.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
