Bit envious of you with you deserting (hmmm) this country of ours that is rapidly going down hill, certainly believe that you will have a better life in the Philippines which I got to know quite well during my time at sea and the Filipino people are some of the nicest around though beware,
sharks can be found everywhere under water and on shore even in the Philippines. Nights out in Zamboanga and Mati taught me a lot about land based sharks.
    Keep well and bon voyage.

Did 4 trips up to Lulea John, cold but a nice sail through the islands. What ore carrier were you on?

To see Ernest Shackleton`s` grave in South Georgia, with a tot of rum and the last tot poured onto his grave,
To see millions of Penguins in Antarctica and when sitting on the ground they come and inspect you and if they fancy you they place a pebble next to you, it means they want to mate and build a nest with you. I always had birds fancying me.
To see giant Bull elephant seals rearing up nine feet tall cos he thinks your after his smelly cows, then the chase begins and end up in hospital with a broken shoulder. Magnificent.
To see the Sheer size of the Glaciers breaking off into icebergs, fantastic. the ocean full of whales.
The Chrystal clear nights there with every star shining like headlamps.

When you consder all the places that British Seafarers have been to, there is very little planet left.
How many Celebs, Politicians, Millionaires have seen and done what the British Seafarer has done.?
I guess we were the lucky people, No others can do, go to and see what we have seen and done and been to.
What a fantastic life we all had.
The world will not see our likes again. We were the last.

Everything will be alright Tony and you should be well looked after by Cathay Pacific, used to be my favourite airline in my years as a multi thousand mile traveller (anywhere twixt 200 to 300,000 per annum). Also you have your English friend to guide you on local customs, so relax enjoy your new life and keep in touch and we'll all look forward to hearing about your new experiences, but don't forget to keep some parts secret

All the best and Bon Voyage Kind regards Ivan
