Have just spent some time on the G Captain website,, lots of interesting news there, disasters, piracy latest, latest on MSC Flaminia, the new Maersk Box Boats, totally different design regarding the Hull, worth a look.!

When I married had kids and packed up going deep sea, did not fancy home trade, I tried to get a job on the "Thames"

It was a family affair, Great Grandfather even Grandmother and even then downwards, unless you married into them.
Believe me the so called Unions "Closed shop" and "Port of London Authority" were no match for these people,
they had it stitched up so tight that even their ar*e was watertight.

I can believe that Graham. cousin of my mothers who was mate on the Woolwich ferry for years and from what I heard it was much the same there, not waht you knew, rather who you knew.

John,I believe the new dock at Seaforth (which will actually be on the river)known as Liverpool 2 will handle ships carrying 30.000 boxes.

jim i can't see why we can't alter the empty docks to utilise the space knock a couple into one large berth it could be done get shut of that scrap berth it is an eye sore?jp
