Its certainly the closest most of us will be able to get to seeing what conditions were really like on those Arctic Convoys. Have watched many episodes and wouldn't do their jobs for any amount of money.

Thanks Dennis, Not seen it not having that channel. Doesnt sound too appetising working up there in winter.
    I guess heavy freezing weather.
I found catching Crabs quite easy.
    Cheers

    Default Deadliest Catch

I would have thought that after some of our guys got married they discovered they had got the deadliest catch.

Having watched the King crabbers in Alaska I would say that their job is not as dangerous as the deep water trawlers working in the Barents Sea, Bear Island and the White Sea and even northern Iceland where the seas can be horrendous and even heavy seas shipped aboard turn to ice as soon as they hit the deck and at least 50% of the crew have to be employed chopping ice from masts, stays, rails winches and lifeboats. many a deepwater trawler has been lost because the ice has won. Having sailed on deepwater trawlers, I'll take the king crabbers for an easier life.

A lot of Fleetwood trawlers disapeared due to Icing. There is a long list of them with the mens names.on the prom.

Default hardwork long hours sometimes good pay

Hi shipmates, Fishing all kinds ,has allways been hardwork long hours in bad weather, you get the best price for your catch the less boats fishing, Rob Page is 100% right on his post
