Those of us ( and that will probably include most of the members of this site) who have sailed from both the above ports will appreciate the different landfall experiences of each passenger termimi. Southampton has a dramatic approach along the Test and the Solent only to be met with what appears to be an Ocean Terminal resembling a maritime industrial estate---- featureless and uninspiring. Sailing into the Mersey one is treated to a vista which can equal a waterfront including New york, Shanghai or even Hong Kong. The Three Graces will welcome passengers who will no doubt make Liverpool their harbour of choice for future voyage departures. I look forward to the future prosperity of my home port.

I accept it as a scouser you do raise a valid point. Lets not forget we now have a Mayor of Liverpool ex Merchant Seaman Joe Anderson. Dont think he wont have his input.
