Spot on shipmate, The crew we had aboard that Tre, Boat, 4 Geordies, 3 Jocks, 2 Taffs, A few Paddy,s, And a couple of scousers, Along with a cockney bosun, Who was the best bosun I ever sailed with I cant remember anyone ever getting logged, Even the Elite up top were a great mix from the skipper down. We would discharge in the Mexican gulf somewhere, And look at the next destination on her deck cargo boxers or whatever went down her holds. As long as Barbados was coming aboard smiles all round it was a crew that never gave a hoot if the next port was homeward bound or not. We where all as one and covered each others backs in every way in every department 3 hours a day overtime automatic wether on watch or day work for everyone. Would I do it again I wish I could turn back the hands of time. Regards lerratty Terry.

Well thats got to impress any young boy John, but on profiles apart from your first ship, mine was a 1914 Deep water trawler, and in the words of the song, it didn't impress me much, but it was an adventure!!

    Ship profiles
Saint Line for sleekness, as well as some of the Port Line:
Blue Flu, American President Lines and Victory ships in general for their business like look:
The older Queens, Normandie for prestige looks and being on a wish list
Reina del Mar for a lovely profile
Reina del Pacifico for being instantly recognisable even when hull down on the horizon
So many others of the same ilk
The U S Savana for profile and innovation

and in modern times which don't impress

Container ships for their ugliness :
Cruise Liners for just being building blocks and having no individuality

I'm sure there are other categories to be added

#64, William I too admire the Blue Star Line Ships, my favourite part is the bow. Delving into the realms of fantasy. An old schooner would be my choice of purchase.

    Hiya Marian,
Pipe in nautical terms is a slang word for the funnel - smoke comes from.
