Daily Mirror today
Condor Ferries were criticised today in the Mirror for paying Ukrainian crew less than £30 for a 12 hour day.the company are registered in Guernsey, and the vessels fly the Bahamas flag, so the minimum wage does not apply. still it is a little more than P and O were paying last year on the Irish Sea routes!

am afraid thats the way of the world now, employers taking advantage of bad times, in kent there is a huge tomato and other salad growers, i mean huge, all under cover, all brand new, its of titanic proportions, all the staff are employed through an agency, no work contracts, you can go to work and be sent home 3 hours later if not required, picked up by minibus, many times it does not arrive, no phone call to warn u, i just wait like an idiot, pay minimum wage allowed, but agency gets a lot more, there is no job security, some weeks no work, just use u, and the goverment does nothing, nearly all who work there now are eastern europeans, how can a family budget to live when there is no guaranteed weekly wage, ? .it cost millions to build this salad growing complex, and the boss gets all his labour with no responsibility to them. we are going back to victorian times.
