Planes are getting the same, three weeks ago I flew home from Singapore on one of those double decker planes,
A380, 470 people on board, weight 510 tons. The seats in `working class` were squashed up, could not move, very uncomfortable, then the woman in front of me pushed her seat back, hit me in the face, knocking off my glasses, and scraped the skin off my forehead. I nearly tore the seat from underneath her. In an emergency there is no way you could evacuate, no room to move. No more double deckers for me.
I read today that Boeing have built a new plane to compete against the Airbus 380, it is the 797. it can carry 1,000 passengers, 10,000 miles at 654 MPH,
can you imagine an emergency on that monster.
    Bring back the Dakotas.
    Cheers
    Brian

hi Brian, Shortly i am flying to Cebu in the Philippines, 2 flights, 15 hours flying time, am dreading it, have done a few long flights, UK to Newark in USA then on to Port of Spain Trinidad, UK to Sri Lanka Colombo, then to Cochin India. 9 hours was longest flight, at least 12 to Hong Kong then a wait for the 2nd flight to Cebu, thats about a 3 hour flight, the seats are much too close, no thought of passenger comfort on long hauls, last one to Delhi was Virgin Airlines, not at all good in economy class, Sri Lankan airline was better, business class is beyond my means, have flown in 2 Dakotas in the mid 50,s, best flight i had was in the cockpit most of the flight on a Dan Air plane from Menorca to Gatwick, a BAC 111, Harder when u are disabled and have a mobility problem. those reclining seats are dangerous, no warning when one is being lowered. had the same peoblem myself. you are completely trapped.

Never again plastic seats my **** felt like i had jumped the Grand National course on a nag with no saddle the final nail was when i saw the co pilot with half a bottle of scotch in his inside pocket. I sailed from Bombay {Mumbai} Many moons ago for blighty....We had 3 family passenger,s they were heading for the Indian consulate here. We were asked to help them aboard with there luggage.............. 3 x 3 piece suites, 6 pushbikes, 24 bags of clothes, 3 oxes, and the biggest box of flip flop,s i have ever seen in my life. They only insisted the skipper loaded them into one of the lifeboats. Lets just say none of it got aboard let alone entered Blighty. Terry.

Made me laugh when it was mentioned on an unexpected lifeboat drill the Asian crew members were late arriving carrying all there Possessions, i can just imagine seeing that, what if the same happened today on cruise ships with Asian designated lifeboat crews, ?, its not only ships getting too big, aircraft also, disasters can only get worse, money is the prime consideration now, Ryanair wanted to introduce standing passengers only on some planes, . that company is a real rip off, by the time u buy your ticket the price has doubled.

Some years ago at Christmas time we flew from Denpaser in Bali to the island of Lombok. About 25 minutes in a small Focker, no I am not swearing, with about 20 passengers, some locals carrying live chickens in baskets. Only flew just above the wave tops but got a drink and sandwich in that time. When we landed I noticed a wrecked plane at the end of the runway. Asked what had happened?
'Well sir back in early November it crashed on landing and we have not had time to clear it away yet'.
That sort of thing really fills you with confidence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
