    Default Titanic Exibition.

Tomorrow sees the start of The Titanic Exibition at the Merseyside Maritime Museum and it runs for 12 months.Any of you that are visiting Liverpool during that period it will be something of interest to go and see.I like this idea that they have introduced, when you start the tour you are given the name of a passenger(you become that passenger) at the finish of the tour you see a list and see if you survived.Go to Titanic Exibition Liverpool 2012 there is lots to read there.
    Regards.

The Titanic was a maritime tragedy, just one of many in our maritime history,in peacetime and war. There has been a frenzy since Ballard dicoverd the wreck,a film, now a musical touring the theatres,LPs of the sound track, posters and mugs for sale now this touring exibition. Someone is making a lot of cash and will not let the memory fade. Personally I've been Titanic-ed for a while, and enough is enough.

A week ago today, Thursday , I was in Singapore and went to see the Titanic exhibition there.
It had many artifacts that had been recovered from the seabed around the wreck , there was also a reproduction of the famous staircase and Corridors, Bedrooms of different classes, .and many other interesting things.
The exhibition in Singapore had been on since last October and finishes in April.
So there must be several Exhibitions going around the world.
    .
There is even a ship load of bloods sailing to the position on the 100th Anniversary, they wont see anything. I was there on top on the 96th anniversary on the QE2 on her final world cruise in 2008
We had a Service on deck and several wreaths were thrown over the side. The nearest ice berg that day was 25 miles away. It was cold wet and windy.
    cheers
    Brian.

Last time I was in Orlando on holiday (2011) The Titantic Exhibition was closed down, don't know if it has re-opened since though. Hopefully will be out there for a holiday next year and will check it out.
There was an interesting article in one of the sunday papers here last week in which it is claimed that there evidence that it was not the Titanic that sank but rather its sister the Olympic.
The story went that after the Olympic was in collision with a naval ship, the cost of building the three ships plus the cost of repairing the Olympic would have bankrupted the White Star line. The Olympic was hastily patched up and renamed the Titanic and sent out on that fatefull voyage, whereas the Titantic was renamed the Olympic and sailed successfully for a number of years.
Apparentley there is documentary evidence of this cover up in Harland and Wolff's archives and also in one of the photos of the wreck of the Titantic her name plate has fallen off and underneath where it would have been can be seen the outline of the letters P and Y.
Interesting story but cannot verify it.

    .
    I doubt it Jim,
The kidnappers of Shergar sent one of its back legs back and said, `If you dont send the money this horse will never run again.`.

Brian, sounds to me that you are suggesting that these kidnappers were Irish gentlemen.

Jim, When I first heard the joke at the time of the kidnapping, it is possible that a certain nationality was mentioned but I cannot remember which one.

strange, we start with the Titanic and then we talk of Shergar, I guess they both went down.
    Cheers
