Ocean class merchant ships.
HI, SOME TIME AGO WW2 merchant ships were being discussed, one menber stated he was a fireman on a Ocean class ship, said they were coal fired boilers, well i dropped a right clanger, replied to him the were oil fired, but had to admit he must know if he was doing the shovelling, i thought maybe a few were coal fired, but since studying more in depth i have to admit all Oceans were in fact coal fired, only Forts and Parks were coal and oil fired , so i apologise for my incorrect statement, since re reading the book on Oceans By Mitchell and Sawer it clearly states they were coal fired, as coal was more plentyful in the UK.
