Merchant Navy Medal 2011
I have just seen in the London Gazette the following citation for the Merchant Navy Medal 2011 :-
W. McGEE, for services to merchant shipping and to World War II
merchant naval history.
My heartiest congratulations Billy, a very well deserved honour. I am sure everyone who has experienced your work and your kindness will agree and be delighted on your award.
Chris.

Knighthood next:
.
Sir / Billy McGee is a most worthy recipient,
All congrats from myself and Tregenna.
After the recent weeks of crazed ideas from Caterers etc.
Deep Sea is one that will help ensure that MN are properly paid tribute to and remembered.
Thanks for the news on a well deserved accolade.
I simply register a well done, but could say much more as I am certain others will.
Chris could you post a link, please ?
K.

Well the cats out of the bag as they say
Thanks for your comments on the award. I was actually informed back in September by letter, though I kept it to myself, apart from my family and a few close associates I have the pleasure in doing research with. Quite humbled to be honest, once I saw the London Gazette citation, as there is a lot of gold braid amongst the other recipients.
Hope to use this as an opertunity to get more information on recent events regarding Tower Hill as I am at Trinity House in November to recieve the medal.
Thanks again
"Across the seas where the great waves grow, there are no fields for the poppies to grow, but its a place where Seamen sleep, died for their country, for you and for peace" (Billy McGee 2011)
