I was a member of the CPO's club on the Pendennis Castle , ( The only bar that served 100% Beer i think passenger Beer was 5 to 1 and the pig was about 4 to 1 ) a lot of guys had there own tankard there with a transfer or tag on it . Never short of Glasses in UCL/Clan on any ship I weny on though .

I had no problem with teh passenger beer getting watered , but thought it was a real disaster that the Pig was the wettest beer on the ship , I could'nt understand why the barmen would rob their own shipmates of Beer . The tank system was supposed to stop the barrel of water in the gang of six barrels , but the work was very professionally done , I expect it was done by the shoreside company that did the cellar work .

The Chief Barman had a New XJ6 jag and renewed it every couple of years , Paid for by the crew beer I expect .

I recall a bar man on the Windsor who always ahd a large jug at hand on the bar. He would pour part of it into each pint saying it was the froth from the tap. Never knew water would froth like that.
Vernon mate, it is practice that you have long fogotten. But like riding a bike you will never forget. I drink in moderation at howm, please explein moderation, but on a cruise I can keep it up all day, get a lot of drinking in as well.

Yes Albert we were spoiled rotten with a cabin steward to make our bunks up and clean our cabins ,and bring us tea in the morning. had too pay him each trip though . but we worked 10 hours a day for 6 months at a time cruising in and out of NYC quick turnarounds . the western was easy compared with that .home every 17 days .
