Hearing Problems
I wonder if others members have difficulty in understanding the lyrics in pop songs.
It was a long time before I realised that the Irish band The Corrs were not singing about the great famine in their song Leave me Breakfast. Subsequently learned it was Leave me Breathless. Similarly, Celine Dionne in the Titanic sounds like she is suggesting the 'the hot dogs go on'. Did they have barbies on the ship?

Hi Bill,
I too have had a lot of trouble understanding the lyrics in pop songs,
So She sends me to the Doctors for a hearing test, I am then sent to the hospital to the audio department and they then have me fitted with a hearing aid in my right ear.
I still have a lot of trouble understanding the lyrics in pop songs.
Cheers
Brian.

Captain Bill,I don't think these songs are meant for us old Dinosaurs. My Grandchildren seem to understand all the words. Even my four year old twins.

Songs make me remember happy times
Hi Captain Bill, Hi Shipmates, Many lyrics in pop song and proper song dont' make any sense , or sound right and after a heavy night on the booze at a sing song, you make up your own words, well I do, I knew a lady who after a few drinks in the club thought she could sing in french {she was a nurse on a hospital ship{wartime} she was married to a great friend of ours ex merchant navy both have crossed the bar, she look after him on the hospital ship going back home, after he was torpedo and his ship sunk they were a lovely married couple. I heared the song she use to sing {Her party piece } on the radio a few months ago she had the tune right? but the words were all wrong !!! she said the drink was strong on french ships in those days she was from yorkshire and had wonderful way of looking and saying things to make you happy .

Listening to the lyrics of some modern songs it makes you realise that to write such stuff you neen an IQ of at least minus seven.

Hearing!!
I join all of you on this, and possibly my understanding of the Modern Lyrics is a wee bit harder,as i on top of all that have this ringing in my left Ear,which makes it so much more frustrating!(My hearing is really bad in the left Ear!) That was caused many Years ago down the Gold Mines with all that constant drilling ,no Ear protection in them days either! Drat!!
Never really wanted to wear one of those Aids either,so i just listen and hope that i get something correct!haha!

There is one very annoying song that keeps being played that always sounds to me as if Britney Spears is singing about one banana. To this day I don't know what she is actually singing.

i have never bothered to listen to most lyricsi either like the tune or not. there was one in the fifties by one of the everly bros i think! it was about a girl holding his penis in the balcony of the movies.
vernon i also have that ringing in my left ear. its called tinnitus. the only cure is a little bit of lead in your ear. put it in with a colt. alf
