Not certain as to how much help I may be, but will try.

Firstly I add the previous link as it will help me with both information needed and previous replies.

This may also be of interest to others and may also help further:

A reminder to myself for now:

I travelled from Bombay to Liverpool on the Capetown Castle in 1946 as Leading Aircraftsman.

I along with my mother and brother returned home to England from Bombay June 1946. My mother and I were evacuated to India at the start of the war and my brother was born in Poona. The Capetown Castle was also carrying hundreds of British troops and sailed through the Suez Canal stopping off in Naples.

During 1946 she was deployed as a Repatriation ship sailing some 350,000 miles and returning some 150,000 men and women of over 20 nationalities to their homelands.

    Default Bombay to Liverpool:

Could you summarise what you do know or have found etc ? searches thus far have come up with a lot of your posts elsewhere and although there is nothing wrong with that, it would be easier if all known facts were available in at least one place, there as I have read may be a possibility he may have flown home.

The more information given, the more possibly can be found, but need to look from all angles and in areas possibly different to the inquiries and results found thus far on the net.

Will do all pos and can ask a few RAF contacts also, just require all info, esp full name: date of birth etc.

Thanks for that: The passenger lists include troopships with long lists of troops arriving in Liverpool particularly, BT 26. To find the names of troopships (and other requisitioned and chartered shipping) try the Board of Trade Statistics Department. BT 70/1 file S 234 lists the ships and gives vital statistics, route and nationality of the crew.

    Keith,
You wont find lists of troops in BT 26. There are passenger names of those disembarking but as a rule you wont get names of troops. Maybe a few officers travelling in a small party or individuals but not large numbers travelling with their units.

Don't know what they are like when visiting but they are not very helpful if you contat them online at least that was my experience.

HI Keith , Thanks for talking and interest, so far my posts were about troopships from Singapore to Bombay ,Worli transit camp . Now have that part sorted . Ship was Pasteur . next leg of journey Bombay to liverpool . This is more difficult. My Dad's Date of movement was 03/01/46 or a little after ,so trying to find possible candidates . I doubt if I will find the exact ship but best possible fit ok. Lost my Dad a few years ago but my mother states that it was not long after that , that he arrived at 104 PDC Cannock and subsequent demob.

Dads name was Frank Hardy AC1025639 16/10/13

    Many thanks
