Drinking Advice, Help needed.

hI Bill, No need to be Teetotal, as the Lad says in his book a drink in moderation is beneficial for longevity, also drink water with it, stops the liver dehydrating.
Continue to enjoy your Rioja, I am off for a Glenfiddach, now. with a little water of course.

Was once advised to always try to drink a pint of water before going to bed after a night on the booze. Sure cure for a hangover, and Ive got to admit that after times I've remembered to do it , it seems to work. And on the subject of cirrhiosis, I was at a mates funeral on Monday and although he was never a drinker, cirrhiosis of the liver, was one of the main causes of death. I like most on this site have had my fair share of booze. When I lived in Cardiff they had Brains brewery which produced a beautiful light dry bitter. When my job moved me over to the west country i found a couple of those small independant brewers, and use to drink Pitchfork, left the mouth dry and begging for another. Now tho like most of you chaps have the occasional glass of wine or pint of beer because you get wiser and listen to the doc.,. Mind you at the current price of booze I would of cut back anyhow.
John, what a lucky fellow to have a dad who was production manager of the English Guiness Factory. Was over in Dublin a few years ago to watch Ireland V Wales and before the match made a tour of Guiness and finished up in the bar at top of tower. They use to give you a small black medallion that you exchange for a pint of the 'dark stuff'. Had a few Americans enter bar area with their tokens and none were keen on Irelands Gold so my mate and i collected their tokens and done 'em a favour by buying them all soft drinks.
Can anyone tell me how the match went as we never got there. 2002 I think it was, yes to be sure that was the date.

I was over in Dublin many times in the last decade and frequented Temple Bar on a few occasions and noted it was a rarity to be served by an Irish bar man. That job seems to fallen into the hands of young Chinese students or Polish workers. Strangely enough, the Guinness tastes the same.

Many years ago I was in Dublin with a couple of mates. We found a nice bar and as the weather was warm the door was hooked back open. I am not sure what the licencing laws were then but I think the pubs were required to close between 3 o'clock and 5 o'clock in the afternoon. We had not been there long when the publican hollered time, walked over to the door and closed it, went back behind the bar and carried on serving. There must have been about 30 drinkers in the place and none made a move, including us. At 5 o'clock the landlord came out from behind the bar walked over to the door and fixed it back. It was only then that anyone made a move to leave.

Yes Mike, but sadly that brewery is now gone. One thing I do recall about it though, the Guiness always atsted better in the brewery than any where else. I was told by the chief brewer it was because it is not a beer that travels well.

A tourist walked into to a bar in Dublin just before 5 pm. Sorry said the barman, but we are not allowed to sell during the holy hour 5pm to 6pm.

Well I for one have always abstained from drinking alcohol plus never smoked in my life. As for going with loose women well thought that would be wrong as well. The reason I do not drink alcohol is that it makes me lie. Hic Hic. Sod it all live dangerously and die young to be a good looking corpse I say. Had to many laughs with like minded people to change my ways and become a bible bashing teetotaller as the pub is open the same time as the church. Fancy waking up in the morning knowing this is as good as I am going to be all day.

My friend from the Cook Islands returned from Dublin yesterday and said a pint of Guiness is now five pounds a pint, cant afford to get bevied these days.
