Any Old Blueies Heard of this
Hi all,
in my family history there is a Chief Engineer, Marshall Steel Clark(e), born in Workington.
He died sometime in the 60's/70's (I think), who sailed in the Blue Funnel line.
Thing is there was always a story in the family about him having been presented with an award for foiling a mutiny on board by the Engine Room ratings. Appparently he prevented it by literally killing one of the chinese ratings, yet was never prosecuted for such, instead, as I say, he was given an award.
Any old timers ever heard of this?
thanks
Capt. John Arton
