I join all hands here in sending my deepest sympathy to all the families involved in the Quake.
I was in Christchurch a couple or so years ago.
I was shocked as well to see that the Cathedral Tower, Spire has fallen down. I climbed it in 2005 and got a certificate for it.
Outside on the Square was the Wizard who performed with his speeches, entertaining everyone. He usually performs from the top of his step ladder at around the time of the earthquake. I even bought one of his upside down world Map. His car was always parked alongside the Cathedral. It was a Red beetle cut in half and joined to another Red Beetle, a forard end fixed to the forard end, Two of everything, 2 Steering wheels etc. I asked him why is your car like that. He said because sometimes he doesnt know whether he was coming or going, A real Character. When I saw the rubble under the Cathedral Tower I could see a Red car covered in the rubble. I do hope he is OK.
All my Best wishes to everyone over there, my thoughts are with you.

Latest update is 75 dead and about 300 still unaccounted for. Lyttleton is by all accounts a total mess with as much as 60% of the twon hit. Those of you who know it may recall the Empire badly hit in September. Reports are that it is now gone. So far 2 dead in Lyttleton but the people in a state of shock. So far no TV footage from there, possible crew cannot get through as the tunnel is closed.

Happy daze John in Oz.
