    Banner Day for Liners

It was a banner day, even for New York and the piers dubbed "Luxuy Liner Row".

    On a
morning in March 1937, no less than five big liners were in port at the same time.
From the top, there's the German Europa, then Italy's Rex, the French Normandie and finally Britain's Georgic and Berengaria.

The glorious Normandie would upset the group, however, and sail first. Notice the line-up of Manhattan taxis on the far left.

My old ship , the `GEORGIC `, there before she was bombed and sunk in Suez Bay.
