Hopefully….
First joke this year suitable for all ears ?…..
Things that happen to you on the road, lugging your van around…..
Here I am with my Bride awakened at 3;00 in the morning!by a loud pounding on the van door.
I get up and go to the van door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain is asking for
a push. Not a chance I said it is 3 in the morning. I slammed the door and returned to bed.
Who was that ? Asks Madam.
Some drunk guy asking for a push, I said.
Did you help him ? Her indoors asked.
No I did not ,it’s 3 a.m. and it’s pouring with rain out there !
Well you have a short memory she says , you remember 3 months ago when we broke down, and
those 2 guys helped us ? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself !
I think you should help him, God loves drunk people too you know.
I did as I was told , got dressed, and went out into the pouring rain.I called out into the dark,
Hello, are you still there ?, Yes comes back the answer .
Do you still need a push ? I called out. Yes please ! Comes back the answer from the dark.
Where are you ? I asked . Over here on the swing , replied the drunk.
Story of my life!!

JS thanks for the simple, however very effective humour to start the year my wife is still laughing, thankfully the swing is no longer in the garden. A cheerful heart is good medicine. RM.

Roger, maybe we should start a thread with things that pop up in our memory about events in the past which still make us smile, or laugh even?

Re: Hopefully….
One that most will remember especially if brought up during the war years and shortly after during the Nuremberg war trials was with other verses….
Hitler he only had one ball.
Goering had two but they were small,
Himmler was somewhat similar,
But poor old Gobelles had no balls at all.

Re: Hopefully….
Hi John
I can clearly remember during the war standing on the little hill on our village green and singing that on the top of my voice,, and a Mrs Alcock sitting in her bedroom window shouting, "Shame on you Desmond". These days when ever I am sitting in my armchair remembering things I wondered why she was so upset, as her son had been shot down in a Spitfire and killed by the Germans.

Re: Hopefully….
Maybe with a surname like hers , she may have taken the view you were referring to her ? JS.
Talking about spitfires can anyone confirm what I grew up to believe by listening to grown ups , that Lord Haw Haw ( William Joyce) his brother was a spitfire pilot and he committed suicide during the war ? Or was this just made up propaganda ? JS

Re: Hopefully….
Not his brother, his cousin.
His first cousin, the Irish-born Sergeant Michael Joyce, RAF, also volunteered his services to the Nazis while a prisoner of war in Germany.

#8: Roger if you can remember the lines to that song which had many , and can only at moment remember two. Which were “:To fight for my cunt ,to fight for my cunt , to fight for my Countery .
Too pis Too pis , two pistols on my knee , tra La La etc etc. would maybe perhaps go down well with like minded people , with the emphasis of course on the correct spelling etc. JS

Just read a quote by Goebbles, " Truth is the enemy of the State" sounds pretty near the state of things just now
