    Default Ref. To Mr. Schitt.

Can’t reply to the original as once again comes up on my IPad as on a piece of foolscap with no reply to on. So have had to reply like this. With ref. To the title of your post John in Oz . Think I sailed quite often with members of his extended family, but somewhere over the years the name has become slightly altered by definition , probably due to lack of education and bad spelling. You could quiet often see him or one of the family especially going through the Suez Canal with a searchlight hanging from his neck, but by this time his surname was Schatt and he accumalated the nickname of Davit. Just like those called Jones were referred to as Locker. Cheers and thanks for your illuminating post. JS

    Hi John
I had a cousin named Locker Jones, used to be a policeman, liked locking people up.

The problem is there are so many of them about now.
Though names may have changed a bit.
Now referred to as Richard Cranium, or Dick for short.

A bit like a shipchandler I can’t remember where had a lucrative business selling wine and drinking glasses with a plimsol mark on the side.
    WNA was marked Deck boy
    W. was marked JOS
    S Was marked EDH
    T. Was marked AB
    F Was marked Mate
T.F. Was marked masters and pigs.
Good for entertaining boarding officers both customs and immigration and port health. Never heard any complaints.

A glass, a Middy, and a schooner, probably the glass is too small for a pint. The bottom one could be for eyewash ? JS.
