Hope you told Thomas and gave him time to get out , was he back on his rent ? He got back off his summer break earlier. Better keep off this site as will be getting complaints about changing subject matter. The yachting site is the place for holidays and seamanlike things . Cheers JS. “ yachting playground “ your holiday snaps by Thomas Cheers JS

Re: Covid Vacs
My wife has just had the same procedures Lewis, polop removed, benign, but the type she had can turn cancerous, so she must have another colonoscopy in 3 years. After the all clear she can now have the second knee replaced, this has been cancelled once after a 12 month wait, so now we will get it done privately. Now as to private ops in the NHS hospital, as it was explained to me , is that the NHS operating theatres are not being used at night, as that is when the private op takes place, so the hospital receive the fees. There was a time at the peak of the covid, where private ops could not be done, as the theatres were being used in the evening at that point. My wife is now 76, and if she were to wait on NHS, she would probably be too old to recover full use of the new knee joint any way, so **** the expense, give the cat another canary, and move on with what life we have left, kt

Re: Covid Vacs
Hi Lewis, agree with much of what you post.
When we had private medical through work, Joyce went to see the specialist, and she happened to mention we had BUPA cover.
Well, come and see privately, she went, lush office, thick carpet, coffee etc, different from NHS one on one visit.
At that time hospital had a private wing she was admitted to, apparently charges went directly to NHS, Doctors charges to directly to him

Re: Covid Vacs
The main problem with Covid is lack of proper Quarantine facility's. Anyone who has sailed through Sydney Heads would remember the big Quarantine station up on the starboard side headland, which all people landing in Sydney with anything like Cholera for example would be put there. These days in Australian they use posh Hotels, whose air conditioning goes to every room and corridor, and then they are puzzled why the staff test positive. Queensland is now building a special Quarantined station albeit a bit late but better late than never.

Re: Covid Vacs
A few hundred years ago Des they gave the infected ones bells to ring to warn others to give them a wide berth . There is no difference then and now to stopping the spread of any infectious disease . People today even though death may be staring them in the face they refuse to believe it could happen to them . I still haven’t got my head around how it is passed from person to person . If it is an air carried germ the borders will only have a limited effect . There is still very little information on the actual germ themselves , if there has been I have missed as not all that interested in what the press puts out as part of their self claimed social duties . Those in the armed forces will have done courses on germ warfare and will have a higher understanding of the very serious risks imposed at this present time. Today with the very large amounts of tourists travelling either by plane or ship , the care carriage and handling of germs has not been carried out to the extent it should have been , complacency is the culprit. Australia was very strict on bringing in to the country dangers to our plant life , but less on the human kind. When and if the present one is beat, the future will hold the travellers much more to account , things will never be the same again. Cheers JS.....
PS however on saying that when we emigrated we had to go and be tested for TB, VD, AIDS, and various other odds and sods , Do they still do the same today ? JS

Re: Covid Vacs
John, as a far as i know from others who have come here in recent years they do not test you for any of those.
Lewis, I know how you feel about the Angiogram, had one myself a couple of years back but thankfully no stent.
You will be fine and your exercise regime sounds good.
Try like me, 30 push ups before breakfast.
Health procedures such as knee replacements are common place and you will be fine once it settles in.
Hang in there mate, we want to still be having a go at you in many years time from now, but as only 73 you may well still be considerds as a youngster.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Just coming up to puberty is the description John. My wife had both hips replaced about 5 years ago and was walking without sticks a week later. However have heard knees are the worse ones to do and most suffer longer afterwards before normalcy occurs .JS.
