Re: ante covid vaccination
There are other diseases which have decimated people’s of other areas who had little or no resistance to. E.G. Smallpox was carried by seafarers and Whalers out to Honolulu and various other islands in the Pacific regions , also carried out by missionary’s preaching the word of God , as an added bonus. There will still be many viruses to come in the future. Medical science will always have plenty of work .. JS
PS as a vaccine is found it will also have to be updated. A virus also builds up an immune system to various drugs or anti-bodies , Penicillin once thecure all for various ailments lost most of its of its affectiveness against VD, then went to Streptomycin, now.more powerful drugs probably , returning American troops from Vietnam brought back a strain of disease called Vietnam Rose which penicillin was immune against. Was bad public knowledge so not much said about it. The present Covid 19 , the truth will come out in years to come, will be of little interest then. Cheers JS

Re: ante covid vaccination
Just been reading an English medical scientist who said that he believes that the vaccines now circulating will be ineffective against the new strain of the virus. If as some theorists maintain that this is man made; we are in strife, as all whomever is making it has to do is alter something every time they get an antidote.

#78.. Think that is in the back of most people’s minds Des. However is best to let the authority’s take what action they think necessary and just hope they are not a bunch of dilly dancing no hopers like some of the pollies we have. Who knows may finish up carrying gas masks like we had to do during the war .cheers JS

Re: ante covid vaccination
Congratulations to Pfizer on the new Covid -19 vaccine !
The same company that makes Viagra.
I have complete faith in the new vaccine .
If a company can raise the dead, they can certainly cure the living.

Re: ante covid vaccination
My son who is a Doctor Consultant working on the covid wards in Hospital in Portsmouth has had his Vaccine of Pfizer,
It is 91% effective and when you have two of them it is only 95% effective.
So they will probably only be giving one Jab instead of two.
Not had mine yet, and I am nearly 86.

Re: ante covid vaccination
Progress in every aspect of the governments handling of this saga, Is to say the least shambolic, Not that any other government could have foreseen the vast task ahead of them, This is far from over in fact its getting worse more cases of the second strain than the original back in march this year, Estimates are this vaccination will take 50 weeks to cover the whole of the U.K. Lets hope that is carried out, Personally i have my doubts there track record on everything else has been bad enough lord knows what's around the corner.

My wife and I recently celebrated our diamond wedding anniversary on December 10th. Received a nice letter from Her Majesty. 2 days later, a knock at my door and there stood a smartly dressed young man and presented me with a heavy parcel. I'd been getting stuff from Amazon most days but this wasn't from them. After unwrapping we found a wooden box containing vintage port and a ceramic pot of Stilton all stamped with the Royal Warrant and sent from Fortnum and Mason the Queens grocer. Very generous I thought until my daughter rang later to ask had we received our anniversary present.
The necks gone from the Port and what's left of the Stilton is maturing in my fridge.
