Going into hospital 12/5/14
well ship mates, just a wee note to let you know I will be off line for a short time (I hope) .
Was diagnosed with stomach cancer 9 weeks ago, since then its been like a helter skelter ride. I cannot fault the Cancer Team in the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary, I have been getting consutlations with Consultants, Specialist nurses, Oncolagists and others on a weekly basis. Good news is its is operabale, I will lose 2/3rds of my stomach, the consultants say you can live with out a stomach.
Surprisingly I am not in a lot of pain, just some bad indegestion attacks, I always assumed when the C word was mentioned there would always be extreme pain, this is not the case with me thankfully.
I should be in hospital for 15 days or so all going well 5 of those will be in the HDU, not looking forward to that.
Have had great support from my 2 sons and their familys, and from many many pals from Facebook.
Catch you all soon.

Re: Going into hospital 12/5/14
Hello Bill
Well mate that's not good news at all,and although you seem very positive (good on you) I am sure its quite a big Op, all I can say is I really hope that all goes well for you@
Never a nice thing going into Hospital I know, but then these things do happen!
Sounds as though you have a good Team there,so I am sure you will be AOK!
Only thing is mate with a smaller Tummy, how are going to hold all that lovely Amber Liquid! LOL!
Seriously though you take care, and yes we I know all hope that you will soon be up and about and back here with us all!
Will be holding all Fingers and Thumbs and anything else if it helps! haha!
Cheers

Re: Going into hospital 12/5/14
Good Luck with the op Bill,
I know you will be OK after.
I had a life saving operation last year on Pancreas and Liver with only four days to live, Now I am fit and healthy again, I dont drink now is all and I dont even miss my nightly whisky. So even if the whisky is out after, it will be worth it.
So all the best with it, I am sure those pretty Nurses will look after you OK .
Cheers
Brian.
