IO have no problem with those who have served their country well in field of conflict and even giving their life in defense of same.

But for some such as our ex premier to get the highest order for locking up the state of Victoria during the pandemic, not on medical grounds as now been established, but on his wishes only.
To me that is a total disgrace which demines the efforts of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

But there is a tale at the end of this.

He is so hated by the people that he cannot get membership of an y golf club and no restaurant in Melbourne will allow him in.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

The recent celebrations for VE day and end of WW2 were meant to give thanks and gratitude to the whole wartime generation for sacrifices made including the huge role played by the MN.
The events among others are hijacked by church and state making them meaningless.

Louis what ever makes you think the MN was even mentioned or even thought about. How many people know that the last casualty of the war in Europe was a merchant ship 'Avondale Park' sunk on the 7th May after the armistice was signed and that British merchant ships were still serving in the Pacific war theater .

How many people today have even heard of the British Merchant Navy, what it did during the war and how many men, and women, lost their lives in an attempt to keep the nation fed and watered?

Ther talk of the three services and what they did, but the forgotten service gets very little mention.
Yet on figure suggests more merchant seamen p[aid the ultimate sacrifice than any of the other three.

    Hi John
They have taken the Great out of Great Britain. Why else would that clown Strammer agree to another twelve years of European fishing in British waters, if it was in exchange for easier access for British tourists they should hang their head in shame.

#45, 70% of UK fish is exported from the UK to the EU. If we did not let the EU fish in UK waters the fish would die of old age.The majority of Brits are clueless abut what to do with fish. If it is not wearing a battered overcoat they give fish a miss. LObsters are for Christmas and most would not know how to cook it or dress it same with Crab. Oysters other shell fish is not regular on the British house wifes shopping list, basically because she would not know what to do with it, maybe fish fingers are though. Long gone are the days when a regular was soused herrings , a Friday delight. Even Mackerel I would be surprised if some would know how to gut and cook the fish.
If you want good quality fish you have to travel to find a fishmonger for a start Standard supermarket fish is long time no swim fish pre packed and stinks when you open the packets

Starmer agreed an extension on fishing rights the same deal as agreed by Boris. The deal is good for Scottish salmon& Scottish whisky exports as a lot of the restrictions have been removed. The deal also allows young people to travel to and from the UK/EU for the Erasmus education agreement and also gain work expierence and learn how other cultures live and work. It also includes the UK arms industry & defence agreements, seeing as your beloved Russia are on the prowl around EU Borders and also threaten the UK on a regular basis. Yes it has eased travel and UK travellers will be able to use the E smart passport systems.
Starmer raised a cheer in the house yesterday when he said he believed that Nigel Farrage was one of the first to use the system the other day.
It would appear the Government has actually realised that unless they get their act together they will be a 1 term givernment. The fact that they are doing a U turn on the winter fuel allowance (details to be released) will certianly meet with approval. Now all he has to do is find a way to get rid of Rachel Reeves as Chancellor and he is on a winner again.
