Think I will persist with the good old but trustworthy V8 as they just keep on going plus sound bloody great. Sure they use more petrol but offset that with less matainance. Also it is pre computer so now problems with that. Well it does have one computer behind the wheel and between my lug holes

Has the race been fixed in my favour Des. ? The 30+ years I was driving normally in Oz , I only had one speeding fine and that was speeding up in a deserted school speed zone at 1 minute to nine , my car clock showed 5 past nine , when the hidden police car stopped me doing 35 I paid the $100 fine there and then. Often wondered if it was a scam ?

65 years without a ticket, I was lucky, I did an advanced driving course with the NZ Highway Patrol just after getting my license, adhered to that all through my many cars. I also taught my son now 64 he had one ticket for speeding.

Still won’t save you Des if you have a falling out with your doctor. Have you tried him with money yet ? Instead of the “ forget me nots “ . I had a phone call last week from a Specialists secretary for a so called bill for $151 from last January. After much speculation as couldn’t remember seeing him , it was confirmed it was for a telephone interview lasting 5 minutes. I had previously received a cheque for $143 made up to him so had forwarded on it was from Medibank. The total bill was $500 by my reckoning of which I paid $294 not bad for a 5 minute telephone conversation, it’s a wonder he didn’t reverse the phone charge. Cheers JS
Previous to this belated bill , I was informed he didn’t want cheques, as it would cost me nigh on $400 for taxis to appear at his surgery , I said take it or come and get it, he took it. Needless to say I can’t even pronounce his name , and wouldn’t even recognise him if I saw him . Best of luck with your licence . JS..

It has been estimated that here in Oz we have some of the oldest cars still on the road anywhere.
I drive a 20 year old Land Rover.

In the summer months there area number of car rallies in some of the towns here in Victoria.

One last year for Triumph sports cars saw over 300 in one such meeting set out on the grass area overlooking a beach.
All driven there and some over 30 years old.

No, they are there just for show.
But many are now owned by young drivers, many of whom belong to clubs just for different models and style of car.
Most Sundays during the summer months many can be seen on the freeways going to a meet some where.

A guy not far from where I live has a Rover 2.2 liter, in such good condition.
I had one back in UK so many years ago, I often stop and look at this one.

In one country town there are two Morris, one the M,M with a split screen, the other a shooting break style with the wooden body work in parts.

We also see the occasional overseas car, saw a 1955 Chevrolet a few weeks ago, still in pristine condition.
The guys who own such cars treat them with kid gloves.

I had a rover in the UK but the cheap one that is. Was much more luxurious than the Vauxhall had before that . I never drove in the UK as never held a British licence . The wife did all the driving. The only time I did drive was on an International licence with hire cars when went back to see family. Cheers JS
